Can't move after joining a ongoing quick play match as a backfill player

I joined an ongoing quick play match as a backfill and I was not able to move. Inputs from the left stick and WASD were just not working. UI elements such as the stamina bar, extra effort bar and mini-map was also missing. The only thing I were able to do was look around. I was able to hear the quick chats but not send them. I ended up leaving the game and got a leaver penalty (no rejoin option for quick play).
