Weird posession/ball magnetism

Getting posession, especially when close to opponents seems odd. I've had multiple situations where I'm closer to the ball than my opponent and yet he gets posession before me.
I have an example attached, I don't understand why he would get posession when he was behind me this whole time while I was trying to tap the ball. I've seen shots cancelled because someone nearby took posession which makes sense since shots have longer startup time, but for a tap it just seems odd.

Modernalso tapping the ball has a long startup, your best option there was to push the ball but I still agree with you this shouldn't happen
