Low Ping gives disadvantage??
Has anyone else noticed this?
I've run into this issue since launch. I've always had 27 ping and whenever something laggy happens, I check the scoreboard out of habit. My opponents always, and I mean ALWAYS have higher ping than me.
So how is it that I'm the one who gets tackled from a position I already moved away from? I back step and dribble away, but they poke the empty space I create and I lose the ball. Earlier I kicked the ball, it already shot, but someone hit me with a sliding tackle. You would think everything goes normally, right? I didn't get tripped up by the tackle and the ball did shoot, but the man slide tackling my ankles somehow intercepted the ball 5 meters in front of us.
The net code is still so bad. I seriously don't understand why I've experienced this from day one. The server predicts what players do, and that's part of the way interactions are modeled in the net code. But apparently, the lower your ping is, the more "benefit of the doubt" the server gives to a high ping player. A similar thing happens when you're goalie and you miss, then see in the replay that you "jumped" in 2 or 3 different directions. The server just decides which version of reality in canon, yet you will almost always see 1 of those ghosts in the replay that show you jumping in the right direction. Even if you legitimately miss the save, you'll still see those split realities where you're jumping in other directions. We have a literal visual representation of the server deciding which interactions are held as "true."
This is just an incredibly frustrating experience. In any other online game, having lower ping makes everything feel more accurate from your input to all those interactions. Because of the way this net code is designed, animation and priority dynamics are just inconsistent. I would love to play this game one day and not experience this dissonance between what I'm seeing and what the game/server interprets as "true" events.
